A stunning transformation with Russell grey concrete interlocking tiles
The project
Gold Zone Roofing recently completed a full roof replacement in Worksop, transforming a residential property with a modern roofing system and a fresh, coordinated appearance.
The original Rosemary tiled roof had been in place for around 70 years. The project included a complete re-roof, two new Velux windows, renewed chimney leadwork, replacement roofline products and a new porch flat roof.

The transformation
From an ageing red Rosemary tiled roof to a modern Russell grey concrete tile roof. Select any photograph to view it full size.
The original Rosemary tiled roof was showing signs of age, including slipped tiles and deteriorating cement work around the ridge tiles. The existing roof did not include modern breathable roofing underlay.
Rather than continue with ongoing repairs, the homeowners decided to invest in a full replacement. Their priorities were long-term peace of mind, better weather protection and an improved appearance for their property.
Gold Zone Roofing carefully stripped back the existing roof and installed a modern roofing system using Russell grey concrete interlocking tiles. The grey finish complements the traditional brickwork while giving the property a smart, contemporary appearance.
Beyond the roof covering
The project also incorporated two new Velux windows on the rear roof. The installation involved associated timberwork and careful integration with the new roofing materials.
According to the project details, the work was covered under Building Regulations, including relevant checks for insulation, ventilation and timberwork associated with the Velux installation.
Both chimney stacks received new Code 4 leadwork. These important weatherproofing details form the junction between the chimneys and surrounding roof, helping protect vulnerable areas from water ingress.
The existing porch flat roof was also replaced with a Firestone EPDM rubber roofing system, incorporating the necessary trims and new Code 4 lead flashing where the flat roof meets the wall.
The outcome
The transformation from the original red Rosemary tiles to the new grey roof is striking. The grey roof covering, matching ridge tiles, black verge capping, anthracite fascias and soffits and black guttering give the property a coordinated finish.
Alongside the visual improvement, the customers now benefit from a modern roofing system with breathable underlay, renewed roofline and chimney details, two new Velux windows and an upgraded porch roof.
